ACURSED Tunneln I Ljusets Slut CD (Prank) As I sit here listening to this disc and write this it strikes me that the dark thoughts that have inspired this most likely will be used as selling points in mail order lists, and I too will in this review state that it heightens the quality of the CD. I can't help but be at least a little bit worried about the state of mind these boys are in when I listen to the spoken parts between the songs - it's all very bleak. And in Swedish so a lot of people won't get the full experience of the mood set on this record. I'm not a depressive person but can still appreciate when cold and dark thoughts are translated into music with the same characteristics. It's all a bit strange really - someone's misery is what someone else appreciates. For many different reasons of course and I'm not saying it necessarily has to be a bad thing either. Musically I think you have a pretty good idea on how this sounds - it's definitely not your happy-go-dancing tunes. But it's not slow and doomy either. This is hard-hitting käng from the cold Sweden. On first listen, when scratching the surface, it is just that: hard-hitting uncompromising quality käng-/crustcore, no more, no less. But on following listens more and more details begin to appear all over the place. There is for instance more than a handful of cool guitar work going on here - both in small and big scale. Complete with the pounding drums and desperate screaming vocals there's only one way to sum things up; this is a powerful exhibition of relentless Swedish angst ridden käng, and it's fucking excellent! If you're like me and have waited on this to be released for the three-and-a-half years since it was recorded you already know you need to buy it instantly. Comes in a digipak with minimal info - no song titles, no lyrics… just info on the recording, the names of the band members, and a thank-you list consisting of Prank Records, Discharge and His Hero Is Gone. ADRENICIDE Kill CD Endless Brutality of Men Records A site for self development for the post modern hippie discusses the concept of when “enough is enough”: “Enough can describe quantity or quality, depending on the subject or object”. Adrenicide released “Kill” last year as their fourth album in three years, and to top it off, the released yet another full length last year. To put it bluntly, on this release they clearly excel in quantity, and fail miserably in terms of quality. Kårén - April 30, 2010 |

ASSASSINATORS/D.S.B. split 7” Alerta Antifascista/Halo of Flies Records At first look this might seem as an odd pairing of bands, and I agree. I still think it’s somewhat strange, but that doesn’t stop it from being two good bands for the price of one so it’s really a good deal. Danish Assassinators continue to deliver the melodic punk they’ve proven to be very good at in the past. Krogh – April 29, 2010 |

TERRORSTAT/TWISTED SYSTEM split CD Endless Brutality of Men Eighteen tracks in thirty-six minutes and a Swedish - American crustcore team-up with two bands that I think would have benefited from doing separate releases. When a bands’ style is described as raw, rampant crustcore with a couple of heavy mid-tempo breakdowns it could just as well be a way of tip-toeing around the fact that they don’t have so much to offer as it could mean...
